The 2013 school year isn’t far away and many recent high school seniors have already chosen which school they will proudly represent for the next four years. However, if you are going into your senior year in high school, you’re likely anticipating the application process. Prior to applying, many students want to visit their favored schools, and what better place than San Diego? If you’re looking for accommodations for your trip, the Pacific Inn is a cheap hotel in downtown San Diego that welcomes students and families from around the nation.

The University of California San Diego (UCSD) is a part of the prestigious UC system which has a goal for its students to “drive California’s economy and lead the world in new directions.” The campus holds tours Monday through Saturday at 10am and 11am. This 90 minute walking tour is led by students of UC San Diego and also includes a 30 minute information session conducted by an admissions officer. Visitors who choose to stay at one of the hotels near San Diego beaches are able to enjoy the Southern California sunshine and are within minutes of UCSD.

Not far from UCSD is San Diego State University. In 2013, there were just under 30,000 proud Aztecs attending for the most recent spring semester. A large university, San Diego State also has many options for tours. There is a prospective student tour which includes a walking tour of the campus and an admissions presentation which lasts for two hours. There is also a walking tour led by an SDSU ambassador, as well as a housing tour to help prospective students become familiar with their future dormitory options. For out of state applicants, there is also a student panel where you can meet SDSU’s out of state admissions counselors and can ask current students about their experience at SDSU and the transition into a new city.

Finally, there is the University of San Diego. A private institution, USD is perched upon the hills of La Jolla and has a beautiful outdoor campus. Tours at USD are offered twice a day at 10am and 1:30pm, Monday through Friday throughout the year. The tour includes an hour and a half campus tour and a 30 minute information session. Here, you can ask any questions about the campus, application process, financial aid, etc. If you do not have time for a tour, USD welcomes you to walk around the campus or enjoy a meal at one of the many dining options.

The Pacific Inn in downtown San Diego welcomes prospective students and their families during their college decision process. Our central location near the San Diego Airport makes us a great option if you are planning to visit more than one school in the area.
