Within the newly remodeled San Diego International Airport are four unique lounges that offer travelers a much appreciated place to relax away from crowded waiting areas. Airport patrons have several choices, including a large center available exclusively to military personnel and their families. Here’s a rundown on the available lounges as provided by Pacific Inn, a trusted hotel near San Diego Airport:
1. Airspace Lounge & American Airlines Admirals Club
The Airspace Lounge located near gate 22 is currently undergoing renovations but is still available to all travelers using Terminal 2. This lounge is truly the cream of the crop, featuring PowerPoint stations, plush seating, natural light, and free food, beverages and Wi-Fi. Complimentary access is granted to Admirals Club and US Airways Club members (including Citi Executive® / AAdvantage® World EliteTM MasterCard® card members) and non-members can get in by purchasing a day pass for $25. Phase 2 of the remodel, which will soon be underway, is set to include an impressive full bar and food menu.
2. United Club
Also in Terminal 2 is the United Club lounge located on the mezzanine level between Gates 47 and 48. Club members get in for free while non-members must be willing to pay a small $50 fee. Visitors enjoy spacious seating, plenty of plug-in locations, free Wi-Fi and complementary snacks and beverages. Conference room access is offered as well. The lounge is open daily from 5:15 a.m. to 10 p.m.
3. Delta Sky Club
The Delta Sky Club is near the United Club on the mezzanine level above Sunset Cove. This lounge is open from 5:15 a.m. to 11 p.m. Delta offers a variety of membership levels, making this a great option for travelers who might not want to commit to a membership. You can purchase anywhere from 1 to 200 day passes as opposed to opting for a membership with the particular airline. Come by Delta’s lounge for complimentary alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, snacks and Wi-Fi, or to enjoy their comfortable second-story deck overlooking the airport’s food court.
4. USO Neil Ash Airport Center
The largest place to get away from the crowds is the USO Neil Ash Airport Center, a 10,000-square-foot facility available to service members and their families. The center, open from 6 a.m. to midnight, offers amenities including:
- A play room for kids
- A break room
- Free cafe drinks and snacks
- An outdoor courtyard with BBQs
- A lounge
- A game room
- A conference room
All of these airport lounges are great for both business and leisure travelers who are looking to indulge in a little peace and quiet, pampering, complimentary services and top-notch service.
