Navigating the Area’s Parking Options
Little Italy was set up in 1996 to ensure the Little Italy neighborhood in San Diego would be well preserved. Events are regular in Little Italy, and you can expect to see everything from fine dining to live performances to amazing parks with added features for your canine friends. Little Italy is inviting to all those who are looking to have a very rich cultural experience. The various attractions bring in visitors from all over, so sometimes parking can be a bit of a problem. Here are some tips and insight into the easiest ways to park in Little Italy.
The most common type of parking in Little Italy is street parking. Most spaces are metered and will require you to return to pay the meter every two hours. The meters also only take quarters, dimes and nickels, so come prepared and bring your spare change! Some of the parking spaces in Little Italy are not metered, but these types of spaces are limited.
If you would prefer valet service, for $8 per vehicle, you can drop your car off and have the valet service park it for you. This can be especially helpful for those who may not have time to search the streets for parking. Valet service in Little Italy runs from 6 pm to 11 pm and is available at the Indigo Grill, Napizza Cafe, and the Bencotto Italian Kitchen. This allows you to have a fun night out on the town worry free!
If you are visiting on Saturday, you can park in Washington Elementary’s Parking Lots which are located on W. Fir and State as well as Union and W. Date. Another parking lot available is the Delawie Wilkes Rodrigues Barker Lot which is located at W. Juniper and India. On Saturdays, these lots provide an initial two hours of free parking so you can enjoy all of the Little Italy events! After the 2 initial free hours, the rate adjusts to 2 dollars an hour. These parking lots will be the most affordable option, allowing you to save your money to spend on the day’s activities.
