San Diego’s beautiful Balboa Park is the nation’s largest urban cultural park and home to the world famous Zoo, 15 museums, several distinguished performing arts venues, the Prado restaurant, and an assortment of stunning gardens. The 1,200-acre Park boasts an extensive calendar of events including museum exhibitions, live musical performances, free films, and festivals. A few of the exciting events coming up in August are listed below.
Twilight in the Park- Summer Concerts
Concerts take place at the outdoor Spreckles Organ Pavilion every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday during the summer from 6:15-7:15 p.m. Some of the upcoming concerts are:

Films in the Garden at the San Diego Museum of Art
Watch a free film at The May S. Marcy Sculpture Garden every other Monday beginning at 8 p.m. during the summer. Refreshments are available for purchase at the restaurant in the Sculpture Court. The upcoming film screenings include:

Summer International Organ Festival
Enjoy a free concert by talented organists every Monday throughout the summer. Concerts begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Spreckles Organ Pavilion. Upcoming performances for August are:

Nighttime Zoo- Koalafornia Dreamin’
Bring the kids for an evening of fun at the San Diego Zoo’s “Koalafornia Dreamin’” event running every night until 9 p.m. during the summer. Summer Shakespeare Festival 2014
Delight in one of Shakespeare’s most popular comedies, “The Two Gentlemen of Verona” at the Old Globe Theater. Performances run from August 10 through September 14.
Balboa Park offers free parking at several lots throughout the park, including the Inspiration Point parking lot. Inspiration Point also offers access to the free tram which runs daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Parking within Balboa Park is very limited which is why we recommend staying at a nearby Downtown San Diego hotel and either walking, biking or utilizing affordable public transportation to get to Balboa Park.
